American Idol (yeah I watch it)

Did anyone watch American Idol last night? Holy crap! The last time I saw such a giant group of people in denial like that was the 2000 election. Texas - you can't sing and you have bad hair, there I said it.

Paris Bennett (audition #2) is my pick already. This girl had phrasing like Ella Fitzgerald, I think I would buy a record of her signing the phone book. Here’s the only website I could find that had a clip, (click on “Paris Bennett – Audition”) and it takes a bit to download but it’s totally worth it. She gave me chills.

Thank god!

I watch too. Paris's speaking voice scared me a bit before she sang, but then PA-POW! Before the Ella Fitzgerald song she even sang the Dixie Chicks Cowboy Take Me Away (girl after my own heart).

As soon as I heard she was Ann Nesby's granddaughter I knew it was all over really. 1.) Ann has an INCREADIBLE voice, even to this day and 2.) She was there WITH her, so I knew she's never let her granddaughter believe she had a chance if she wasn't damn good. What I thought was cool was how respectful she was, using "Ma'am" when addressing Paula and "Sir" when addressing Simon and Randy. Hard to find children with that level of respect these days.

When she sang Billie Holiday I literally got goosebumps from head to toe.

As for the people in denial, Chris and I have both noticed that the last 2 shows they've chosen to showcase the people with horrid voices/auditions for 90% of the show and throw one or two good auditions in rather than the 60ish-40ish that was seen on the first shows. It's actually quite frustrating to us because hands down I'd rather see the people that made it than idiot after toothless trailer park reject idiot bring verbal bashing and rude laughing, snickering, and gestures from the 3 judges upon themselves.

I am also appaled by the behavior of the judges. I realize it's their job to give the brutal truth but the 'bag of potatos' coment was really mean spirited. What do ya bet Simon was a chubby kid?

I missed the first few minutes, wish I'd heard Cowboy Take Me Away. How about the girl who sang O Holy Night, and then Randy said sing Silent Night without the Night part and she started singing that. They seemed particularly mean last night.

Click the link and wait (it took several minutes for me to get it and we have a cable connection), it's on there and it's really good.

What I have the hardest time with is when they let someone who's absolutely awful go on and on and laugh at them or make "Oh My God You're HIDEOUS" faces WHILE they continue to let this person go on. If it were, say, a broadway musical audition (or any other professional audition even) the director/casting supervisor would simply cut them off and say "thank you." Which is rude and abrupt enough but the way they sit there and laugh at these poor 16 and 17 year old kids that dream of being a super star is despicable. Especially that fake little snit Paula. I use to really like her until this year. I thought she was a cutie (never really followed the show) but she's worse than Simon IMO because people EXPECT that from Simon, she's suppose to be "America's Sweetheart." She reminds me of the blonde girl in the movie "Mean Girls"

*edit* lol I wrote this hours ago and forgot to hit submit. aren't migraines the BEST!
